How we make money
This publication is about who holds control and how they got it. It would be strange to write that and stay vague about our own incentives. So here they are.
What an affiliate link is
Some articles contain a card recommending a paid tool. If you click it and later pay that company, they pay us a percentage. The link costs you nothing, and in most cases it carries a discount you would not get by going direct. Every one of these cards is labelled “Affiliate partner” and states the terms next to the button. We do not use unlabelled links, and we do not put affiliate links in the body text of an article.
What it does not buy
No partner reviews an article before it publishes. No partner has ever been given a topic, an angle, or a sentence. Nothing is recommended because it pays, and nothing is omitted because it does not. Where a tool would not actually help the reader of a given piece, there is no card on that piece — which is why most articles on this site have none.
If a recommendation here ever stops being one we would give for free, the correct outcome is that we remove it. Tell us if you think that has happened: control@51percent.com.
